DieMonstersDie
Rating: 7/10 — Download from iTunes
DieMonstersDie is a fun, fast paced action game that may seem shallow at first, but has more depth than one might think. You play as Wolfgang, a Van Helsing-like character, with one simple goal: destroy those monsters!
The controls take getting used to. You can’t move your character; you can only move the angle at which his weapon fires. You adjust the angle by using an on-screen slider or by tilting the iPhone. At first, I was frustrated with this; both methods seemed inaccurate. As I spent more time with the game, though, they became easier and more intuitive.

Hey, it's a living.
I love the game’s fast paced action; nothing beats the feeling of incinerating a group of horrible monstrosities with your flamethrower. I also loved the upgrade system. You can spend your hard earned monster-slaying money on new weapons, upgrades to your current weapons, or extra health.
While I liked the setting (Transylvania), better-drawn characters could have made the game even more eerie. The art isn’t bad, its just typical Flash game fare. A more original style would’ve helped.
Also, while the upgrade system adds some depth, it can’t prevent DieMonstersDie from being what it is: a fast paced action game. You’re doing the exact same thing level after level, and while that’s not a bad thing, it makes the game somewhat limited. If I had the chance to change some things, I’d change the artistic style and perhaps put some more work into the music.
Overall
DieMonstersDie is a fun, fast paced action game. Don’t expect too much of it and you’ll love it.
